It's a self service option – it is your responsibility to transport your belongings to our facility and pack your storage unit (and eventually to move out of your storage unit). The benefit is that you maintain control over your belongings and can pack your storage unit!
We are often asked if it's like the movies and television shows. In Canada, facilities are friendly, secure and safe. The community of Milton, Oakville, Mississauga, Burlington and Guelph is reputable and businesslike.
“I live in Milton and work in Burlington. I drove by Storage Solutions and didn’t know what it was for many years until I took a tour. Self storage has made my life easier – I store my kids’ hockey equipment, our Christmas decorations, even a large dog crate that we use for the cottage.”
“Storage seemed like such an American idea to me – but now that I have an 8’x20’ unit with Storage Solutions, I can’t imagine a better way to keep my life organized. I live in Burlington and drive up Guelph Line everyday to work in Oakville and Mississauga – Storage Solutions was a perfect in between for me.”
Many of our customers live and work in Milton, Mississauga, Burlington, Oakville or Guelph. However, if you are new to the storing concept, let us try to answer your questions.
In Milton, Guelph, Oakville, Mississauga and Burlington, there are several storage options such as traditional warehousing, a container at your house or you pack containers transferred off-site. Storage Solutions has chosen a unique format with individual, containerized storage units but there are other options.
There are many formats of self storage within Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, Guelph and Milton:
Luxurious Storage: Some public storage facilities in Oakville, Mississauga, Guelph, Burlington and Milton offer climate control and power outlets within the unit. Customers are more familiar with us and have begun to use our facility for a wider variety of business and personal reasons. We’ve spoken to some operators who offer a full concierge of options to customers – they will pack up your entire house, store your different items of furniture and artwork in different units based on humidity and temperature, and then move your belongings to your new house and unpack. We’ve yet to come across our facility in Milton, Guelph, Oakville, Burlington or Mississauga, but this might be the next big trend. And of course, their luxury services come with a luxury price-tag!
Subdivided Warehouse: Many public storage facilities in Milton, Oakville, Guelph, Burlington and Mississauga are made from one large warehouse, subdivided by block, drywall or metal paneling, which in many cases does not go all the way to the ceiling height. This is the typical format for facilities – the lines of garage doors in blue or orange and a neon sign saying “Self Storage” at the front. We’ve done a lot of research into these self storage facilities and looked at many of our competitors in Milton, Guelph, Oakville, Mississauga and Burlington, but we’ve heard too many customers tell us that they used one of these facilities and either had their unit broken into by a thief who rented the unit next to theirs and went through the wall, or we’ve had several customers tell us they have had awful experiences with vermin such as mice, rats and cockroaches because these units do have access points. These self storage facilities, at least in Milton, Guelph, Oakville, Mississauga and Burlington, usually do have drive up access and you still lock your own unit and keep the key.
Multi-Story Facilities: Other facilities, in Mississauga, Guelph, Oakville, Milton and Burlington are multi-story. Typically, there are a couple large loading bays that you can park your truck at and you would use freight elevators to get your belongings from your truck, up to the floor that your storage unit is located on and then you have to move you things down a hallway to your unit door. These facilities are a great use of space and in Milton, Guelph, Oakville, Mississauga and Burlington, we all know that space is becoming a premium. However, we can’t imagine loading an elevator with our things and having to move them down a long hallway – especially at night – so we made our facility drive-up.
Our entire facility is made up of steel containers, which means that each unit is entirely enclosed (walls, floor and ceiling), and is drive up.
