1. Start With a Full Reset

Begin by clearing everything off your desk and sorting items into three categories: Keep, Relocate, and Discard.

This step is powerful because it forces you to reassess what you actually use. And starting with a fresh, empty workspace also makes it much easier to rebuild in an organized, intentional way.

2. Create “Homes” for Everything You Keep

Clutter builds up when items don’t have a designated place. This is why certain spaces (kitchen junk drawer) or rooms in your home (the basement) become dumping grounds.

Cords, cords and more cords!  We all seem to have so many cords and cables, which may or may not work, and are never what we need when we need them. Cables and tech can take up a lot of space and can make even a clean desk feel chaotic.  These 3 tips are lifesavers:

  • Go through all your cords and cables to see what goes with what and what works. Dispose of what is broken or no longer needed. If you are not sure, and want to keep it, store these in a separate storage big that is clearly labeled with what these are.
  • Use cable clips, ties, or a cable management box to keep everything organized and hidden.
  • Consider labeling cords or cables. This makes it easier to unplug or rearrange devices without confusion and frustration.
