We did it! Made it through winter 2021/2022, the spring has been beautiful and now we’re pumped for a hot, humid summer in Campbellville.
There is always a lot going on, but the added benefit of the summer is that we can do all of these things outside. This time last year we were reminding everyone about masks, washing hands, staying 6+ feet apart, and these social distancing ideas are still good ones but being outside is probably the easiest way to stay distant, but still enjoy life.
Woodbine Mohawk Park: Catch a horse race! It’s fun to have a nice dinner and do something different with some energy. You don’t have to place bets, but if you wanted to learn, the staff are friendly and will walk you through the process. Mohawk has done extensive renovations and parking is easy, the food is good, and it’s a nice summer night to enjoy. Upcoming events and races are listed here: https://woodbine.com/mohawk/
Blooms and Bubbles: Conservation Halton is introducing its new area, Area 8, located at 5437 Steeles Avenue West, Milton. They’re holding a new event. Blooms and Bubbles on June 25 and 26, 2022 from 11am-6pm. You can choose from wine, mead, kombucha and other bubbly treats (hence, bubbles) and shop at local vendors with crafts and plants and flowers (hence, blooms). There will be music and other entertainment. Check out the webpage for more information and to purchase tickets: https://www.chbloomsandbubbles.com/
Milton Farmers’ Market: What a great way to kick off summer weekends! The Milton Farmers’ Market is operated by the Milton Chamber of Commerce. It’s returning to downtown Milton, no, not Main Street, but the Milton Fairgrounds at 136 Robert Street. It runs from Victoria Day weekend until Thanksgiving weekend (when the harvest is perfect). The market gets going at 8am and goes until noon. We can still smell and taste the delicious peameal bacon sandwiches put on by the Scholarship Café, there’s wonderful farmers with *real food* (so fresh), a French baker, honey, eggs, you name it, it’s sold at the market. We love making fresh salads, corn on the cob, berries & cream – you can get really inspired with the homegrown ingredients. More information is available on their website: http://miltonfarmersmarket.ca/. Also – there is no admission charge and parking is free.
Canada’s Largest Ribfest (Burlington): In its 25th year, Canada’s Largest Ribfest is not to be missed. First off, it just smells really good! But there are lots of other reasons to go – including the live music, activities for kids, and raising money for Rotary Burlington Lakeshore. It’s held at Spencer Smith Park, 1400 Lakeshore Road, Burlington, September 2-5, 2022. What a great way to cap off summer…and make sure you’re hungry when you go! Check out their website for full details: https://canadaslargestribfest.com/
Summer is such a great, care-free season and we are lucky to have so many things to do and see. We didn’t list the numerous trails, hiking paths, swimming pools (Kelso is one big, natural swimming pool!), or other festivals going on in and around Milton. But there’s something pretty much every single weekend, so get out, get social and enjoy the season.
