Winter is definitely coming, and let’s be honest – it feels like it is already here!
Between now and the end of the year, there are always a ton of fun things to do in Woodstock and Oxford County. We’re sure you have some favourites, but if you are looking for some new winter activities or holiday activities to try out and experience this year, we’ve shared our favourites below. Enjoy!
Woodstock Santa Clause Parade (Sunday, December 4th): Starting at 2pm on December 4th, the annual Woodstock Santa Clause Parade will take off from the Woodstock fairgrounds and travel down Dundas Street. It will include festive floats, bands marching groups, and Santa Clause himself as the finale! For full details, visit https://www.cityofwoodstock.ca/en/live-and-play/santa-claus-parade.aspx
Discover the Oxford County Cheese Trail: Oxford County has an incredibly rich dairy heritage and aren’t afraid to show it! You can download a self-guided tour map and enjoy many different cheese samples along the route. In Ingersoll’s Centennial Park, you can even visit a cheese themed playground, complete with cheese slice benches and a cheese-themed obstacle course. Learn more about the Cheese trail - https://www.tourismoxford.ca/things_to_do/culinary_and_farms/cheese_trail.aspx/ …and don’t forget to download your guide!
WinterLights St Mary’s (November 18, 2022, to January 1, 2023): If you’re willing to pop just outside of the Oxford area, you can visit Milt Dunnell Field in St. Mary’s for a must-see holiday display of lights. Each night from 5pm to 11pm, there are over 100 colourful light displays in the park. You can grab a hot drink on the way and walk through the park or take the warmer route and drive through the park.
Outdoor Skating: Throughout the winter months, the City of Woodstock maintains 7 outdoor public skating rinks. The best part – they are all open from dawn to dusk, and some of them are even open until 11pm, so anyone can fit a little skating into their schedule this season! A list of the skating rink locations can be found here: https://www.cityofwoodstock.ca/en/live-and-play/outdoor-ice-rinks-and-tobogganing.aspx
