Another month, another season upon us! It’s fall in Woodstock and Oxford County and with everything crazy going on in the world, we know people are still looking for things to do.
Here are some local outdoor oriented activities for you to check out and enjoy:
Upper Thames Brewing Company: Upper Thames is celebrating its 5th year and we love visiting, picking up some interesting brews, checking out a food truck – it’s always a good time. We know some out of towners don’t quite know what to do when they go in, so just remember, it’s an actual brewery, it is where beer is made, and the idea is that you are there to sample that beer and be part of the experience! Visit their website: https://upperthamesbrewing.ca/
Springbank Snow Countess Monument: She really mooooooooves us! In all seriousness, the Springbank Snow Countess monument is really cool, and it’s fun to take a picture with her in the Dairy Capital. In 1933, Springbank Snow Countess broke the world record for butterfat production and held that record for 21 years. The monument is at the corner of Dundas Street and Springbank Avenue, and you can hashtag your picture on social media as #DairyCapital. Udderly cool.
Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese: This is just delicious cheese. You can visit (you can also shop online) and discover which cheese you like best. They are located at 445172 Gunn’s Hill Road, Woodstock, Ontario, and just be careful putting that into Waze! Pair your cheese with beer you buy at Upper Thames Brewing Company, and you’re going to have a great weekend.
Hike for Hospice – VON Sakura House: Brought to you by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, VON Sakura House is having its 2021 Virtual Hike for Hospice on Saturday, September 18, 2021. What’s nice about a virtual hike is that you can decide when you start, and you can share your photos or videos with the hashtag #HikeforSakura. This event has raised just shy of $1 million over the past 18 years, let’s hit that $1 million mark this year! To sign up, visit:http://vonsakurahouse.com/hike-for-hospice/.
Makkinik’s Flower Farm: This is a really cool concept. Cut your own flowers, and they offer workshops. It feels like a movie needs to be made here. Because of COVID, there are capacity restrictions, but that means that you get a really nice, quiet experience. Check them out:https://makkinks.com/.
2021 has been much like 2020 – strange, filled with a lot of “breaking news” and the need to get out and enjoy our local community is very real. Let’s kick off Fall 2021 with some local fun!
