So. Close. To. Spring. It’s almost here! 2021 is a very different year (all over again) and we’re working to adapt and provide our customers with the very best, simplest, self-storage experience we can. But while we work hard, we like to play hard too! We’ve come up with a list of some of our favourite things to do around Woodstock this season.
Upper Thames Brewing Company. Located at 225 Bysham Park Drive, Woodstock, you can pick up beer direct, have pint outside (or inside, depending on restrictions) and buy merchandise. Upper Thames makes small batch, high-quality beer. They literally brew it in-house and you’ll probably bump into one of their brewers. Our favourite is the Portage, India Pale Ale, but you can do your own taste testing: https://upperthamesbrewing.ca/
Pittock Conservation Area. Located just north of Woodstock’s downtown, Pittock Conservation Area is a pretty cool spot to do some boating and fishing, have a picnic, or camp. It’s a great place to get outside and enjoy nature. Check them out: https://www.pittockconservationarea.ca/
Springbank Snow Countess Monument. There is a statute of Springbank Snow Countess at Springbank Avenue and Dundas Street. Tourism Woodstock encourages you to take a picture and use the hashtag #DairyCapital. Springbank Snow Countess broke the world record for butterfat production in 1933 – she held it for 1933. The statute has had a little controversy – last spring, someone spray-painted “Dairy Kills”, but local businesses moved fast, and D&T Mobile Wash made sure to give Springbank Snow Countess a bath. Get yourself MOOving and visit her statute! Here’s all the information: https://www.tourismoxford.ca/listing/detail/ArticleId/13176/Springbank-Snow-Countess.aspx
Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese. Beer and cheese. Woodstock is perfect. Located at 445172 Gunn’s Hill Road, Woodstock, Gunn’s Hill has a great reputation for their handmade cheeses. Gunn’s Hill offers online shopping for its cheeses, or you can pick up at their cheese shop. We had a wonderful brie a while back, but we love the Dark Side of the Moo – it’s a firmer cheese and a firm favourite in a grilled cheese sandwich. Check them out: https://gunnshillcheese.ca/
There’s a lot to do in Woodstock and around Oxford County, and we're thrilled that the weather is getting warmer and the days are getting longer so we can get to explore more.
Remember folks, shop local, try something new, and let’s support each other!
