It’s been a long winter, but the sun is shining, and the weather is getting warmer. Daylight Savings is around the corner. There’s so much to do in Halton, but with restrictions in place, it’s best to plan for outdoor activities that allow us to maintain space and enjoy nature.
We’ve put together some of our favourite things to do in and around Milton this season. Remember to wear a mask, wash your hands, stay 6+ feet apart. Safety first!
Mountsberg Sugarbush: Something sweet is happening! Mountsberg is running their sugarbush from March 6, 2021 – April 5, 2021. We know, we also wish it was longer, so the “April Break” was included, and we had something to take the kids too – but weekends – live for the weekend! Please note, reservations are required but there are daytime and evening experiences. Check out Conservation Halton’s website for operating hours and details on how to reserve: www.conservationhalton.ca
Dufferin Quarry Bridge Trail: Feel like getting a little more active? Why not hike along the Escarpment and take in some beautiful views? A lesser-known hiking trail is the Dufferin Quarry Bridge Trail. It’s approximately 10 kms so you will want to make sure you dress appropriately, bring snacks and water, and that you’re a decent hiker. Most park along Dublin Line and hike along the Bruce Trail until the trail reaches 6th Line. At that point, you have to turn back because there’s No Trespassing signs and private property. The highlight of this trail is the bridge - there is a beautiful lookout over the quarry that feels like you’re in a different world. Check out the All Trails description and map for more details: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/canada/ontario/dufferin-quarry-bridge-trail
Martin’s Sweet Farm: Martin’s Sweet Farm makes honey and maple syrup. They are running a shop at their farm (normally they’re at some farmers’ markets) and they are in stores in our area. Take a little drive (they are located at Guelph Line and 20th Sideroad, Campbellville), bring the kids, buy something local and connect with your community. Their products are really delicious. Check out their website for more information: https://www.martinssweetfarm.com/
Risposta Bistro: Risposta is such a gem of Campbellville. They’ve really honed their take-out process and selection and we love pickup up dinner on Friday nights or better yet, for our team meetings. They also post pictures that make us drool. When restaurants are able to be open, Risposta has a lot of patio space (definitely a bonus in COVID-times!) and their indoor dining is really spaced out and well ventilated. They do a great job and it’s such a treat. Check them out: https://www.rispostabistro.com/
Bronte Creek Provincial Park: In keeping with our outside and active mandate, we really enjoy Bronte Creek Provincial Park. It’s at 1219 Burloak Drive, Oakville, has lots of parking, and a lot of space. Kids enjoy seeing some animals, there are some nice, shorter trails (for example, the Trillium Trail is only 1 km), that you can easily walk as a family, and hill, used for tobogganing in winter, that gives you a beautiful view of the park and its surroundings.
