Back To School & Back To Self-Storage

Doesn’t it feel like the summer just got here? Where did the time go and why does it have to pass by so quickly?

Now the countdown has begun for school and fall. We’ve even seen some Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas (eek!) decorations on display at some stores. But, we’re going to pretend we didn’t see those, and just focus on the present.

Back-to-school is such an exciting and busy time! There’s the shopping for clothes, shoes, backpacks, lunch bags, water bottles and of course, school supplies. There are new routines for morning, after school and riding the bus. Maybe a new school to attend? And let’s not forget having to make lunches or needing to register for fall activities and sports before they all fill up.

Getting organized and back into the swing of a busier life can be stressful, overwhelming and throw households and families into a loop.

Plus, if you didn’t notice yet (or chose not too), some leaves are starting to turn vibrant, rich shades of red, yellow and orange, and the air is becoming a little more crisp and cool. There’s no denying it, fall is on its way.

For us here at Storage Solutions, this time of year is a busy one too. This is when our customers visit us to get organized for:

  • College & University: Whether living on or off campus, chances are your space will be limited and consist of a single room for you and all your stuff. Self-storage for students is an ideal (and very economical) solution to store whatever won’t fit in your room. If you choose a local self-storage facility you will be able to access your unit 24/7, which can come in handy. Our facility in Milton is close to Oakville’s Sheridan College, Guelph’s Conestoga College and University of Guelph, Cambridge’s Conestoga College, Kitchener-Waterloo’s Wilfred Laurier University and University of Waterloo or on the way to the University of Western Ontario and Flamborough College in London. Our Woodstock facility is also close to the University of Western Ontario and Flamborough College in London, as well as Fanshawe's Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus and Conestoga College's Ingersoll Campus.
  • Kids Play Equipment: For those with younger kids, you know first-hand that their stuff seems to grow as fast as they do! Your backyard likely looks like a tornado hit it. There’s the kiddie pool, trampoline, playhouse, climber, bike, scooter, sports gear, toys, water table and the sandbox (whose sand is everywhere but in it). All these provide endless summer fun and are prefect for self-storage over the fall and winter months.
  • Packing-up the Cottage or Trailer: Your time living and lounging at theses home-away-from-home paradises is winding down. So sad! You may have already started to close them for the season. Items like kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, water skies, inner tubes and other cottage gear might not fit inside your cottage or trailer, or your home or garage. Using a secure self-storage facility is a great solution for getting more space and not having to live out your fall and winter with a canoe in your basement.
  • Protecting Summer Furniture, Decor & Gardening Supplies: Despite its name, most patio furniture needs to be protected from winter weather to avoid warping, cracking and damage. Vibrant cushions, rugs, umbrellas, patio lanterns, decorations, candles and flower planters also need to be safety stored before winter. An 8x8 self-storage unit is the perfect size to store these in until next summer, when you re-transform your backyard, deck or patio into your own personal oasis.

If we can help you get more organized this time of year, let us know. In addition to providing a safe and secure facility for our customers and their belongings, we also offer month to month contracts, which make it easy, convenient and affordable to store your stuff for a little or long as you need.

Good luck getting ready for school and remember - summer will be here again before you know it!

Your friend in self-storage,

Storage Solutions
