Storage Solutions has a lot of self-storage unit sizes. We have big ones, medium ones, little ones, indoor units, outdoor units, you name it!
We get questions often on why someone would bother to rent a small storage unit. These are usually from our customers who are renting 300+sq ft who are curious as to what small storage lockers are used for.
The answer is that small storage is sometimes all a person needs. And why pay more for a larger unit if you really don’t need the space? That’s just silly!
Movers & Shakers
An obvious reason for a small storage unit is someone who is staging their home and needs to purge their house of their personal items, like pictures, their daughter’s artwork, winter jackets in the summer, Christmas décor in March, that sort of thing. These are our movers.
We also have shakers! These are people who are space efficient, use their whole home to their advantage (maybe they work from home), and they are always shaking it up! Their Christmas decorations are down on December 27th (and stored in their small storage locker) and they always seem to have ample closet space at home because they rotate their clothes to be seasonally appropriate. Shakers get it done!
University & College Students (and Their Parents Who Don’t Want Their Stuff)
A big user of small storage are students (and their parents). Let’s face it, as a student, you’re a little nomadic, and that’s part of the fun. You might move home for the summer, and give up your apartment at school, but know that you’re going to a new apartment in the fall. You may be taking a break between semesters to work or maybe you have just graduated and are moving back home to save up for your first home (and to pay off some serious student debt). In neither of these situations does it make sense to throw out your belongings, but it does make a lot of sense to cram your stuff into a small storage unit. Parents really love student storage, especially if they don’t have room for this extra stuff at time, in the short or long term. The cost of a small storage unit is very inexpensive, and the flexibility of the month-to-month contracts means you’re not locked into a long-term lease.
Businesses - Big & Small
When people think of self-storage for commercial or business storage use, they think of the biggest storage unit around. We have many of those customers, but we also have many business customers who need a safe place to keep employee files, past tax returns, those sorts of items that you hope you never have to revisit. We also have short-term storage customers who just need some overflow space over a season to deal with inventory, or while they renovate their office space. Offering customers very lengthy access hours to their storage unit is a huge help because usually the person who needs to access a key file, or move in overflow inventory, they are doing this at night after a very long day.
Retirees & World Travellers
A lot of retirees or travellers are away from their homes and belongings for extended periods of time. While they have someone checking on their home, they’re not always comfortable leaving their birth certificate, banking documents, heirlooms, etc. unguarded for so long. You can always set up a doorbell camera, but that only gives you so much information, and still leaves you feeling powerless. A small self-storage unit offers much needed security and peace of mind. Storage Solutions does in-person walk arounds and we monitor our security cameras. Our cameras cover our aisles, not just the front and back door. We are family owned and managed, so we are very invested in making sure your storage experience is safe, secure and positive.
Small storage rentals are a great investment. They let you use your home to its fullest, fills in timing mismatches in your life, keeps your belongings secure, and frees up the space you have around you.
